Provenance
The portrait entered the museum collection in 1928 from the library of the University of Kyiv (now Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University). In 1833 it was transferred to the University of St. Vladimir in Kyiv as a part of the collections of Kremenets (Volyn) Lyceum. About 1819, the portrait was acquired by the founder of the Lyceum Tadeusz Chatsky (1765 – 1813) in Warsaw, probably from the heirs of Stanislaus Augustus Poniatowski along with his personal library. According to the memories of the artist, the portrait was commissioned by Ursula Mnishek (about 1750 – 1808).
